AI-powered modular counter-UAS system for autonomous, net-based drone interception.
NoctuaNet2 is a modular, de-escalatory counter-UAS system, developed by a team from TU Wien, combining a modular ground sensor network with high-speed autonomous interceptor drones to safely entangle and recover intruders using a specially engineered, durable, and lightweight net structure. The ground station uses AI-driven visual detection methods and tracking via a combination of PTZ, IR, and event cameras, along with RADAR systems, to predict flight paths of intruders. Detected threats are neutralized by high-speed autonomous interceptor drones, leveraging the team’s autonomous drone racing experience to safely entangle, contain, and recover fast and evasive intruders using agile interception maneuvers.
